Biography

Liz Matthews brings 20 years of experience in marketing, business development, content creation, event management, and performance analytics to the OPEN MINDS team as the Marketing Director, Education & Events.
Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, Ms. Matthews was the Vice President of Marketing Innovation at EMPG Solutions Americas. There, she oversaw all aspects of marketing and business development operations. This included driving all efforts associated with lead and demand generation, creating strategic approaches to B2B clients across various markets and in multiple languages, and acquiring high-profile clients across various sectors. She also established the marketing strategic plan with a one, three, and five-year lens, and determined the firm’s events strategy and its participation in industry conferences and trade shows.
Previously, Ms. Matthews also served as the Public Information Officer for the City of Miami Beach. Here, Ms. Matthews served as the city’s spokesperson, crafting marketing materials for major annual functions including Art Basel, Honda Classic, Miami Marathon, U.S. Open, Miami Heat Family Festival, and numerous other events. She oversaw the creation and distribution of all marketing communication and played an integral role in the city’s five-year strategic planning process.
Prior to that, Ms. Matthews served as the Senior Marketing Campaigns Manager at Zebra Technologies Americas Division. She was the strategic marketing lead for specified sectors, planning, developing, and executing multi-platform B2B campaigns in North and Latin America to drive business revenue. She was responsible for planning, editing and developing more than 50 overarching campaigns which included messaging, information flow, partnership opportunities, editorial planning, media buying and placement, budget allocations, PR and digital spending, and performance.
Ms. Matthews also served as the Senior Marketing Communications Manager / Global Marketing Territory Lead at Samsung. There, she led the marketing department’s territory strategy and execution, including designing the customer experience in large events, in-store booths, and through partner marketing opportunities. She designed and executed marketing automation campaigns, established KPI benchmarks, and measured ROI to directly impact over $350 million in revenue.
Ms. Matthews received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing / Advertising from Florida International University. She received her Master of Science in Journalism / Communications Management from Columbia University. She received her MBA from Louisiana State University.
