Biography

Marion Brown, LCSW, CPHQ, brings over 35 years of organizational competency and development experience to the OPEN MINDS team. Ms. Brown currently serves as a senior associate, providing oversight for projects related to strategic planning and organizational development, cultural competency, provider network development and clinical operations, and quality management.

Before joining OPEN MINDS, Ms. Brown served as the Executive Vice President for AMG Health Care, LLC, in Greenbelt, Maryland. She provided consultation services in health plan network development, quality improvement, cultural competency training, strategic planning, and organizational development. In addition, Ms. Brown was responsible for child welfare programs for the organization, including quality management oversight for the Prince George’s County Child Support Call Center.

Prior to working at AMG Health Care, Ms. Brown served as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Quality for ValueOptions Health Care, Inc., in Virginia. Ms. Brown was responsible for assuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (URAC and NCQA). Ms. Brown provided oversight and management of quality activities for the corporate office and 30 service centers. She also developed and monitored corporate quality indicators, supporting continuous quality improvement efforts.

Previously, Ms. Brown served as the Executive Director of the Eastern Region, for Value Behavioral Health. During her tenure, Ms. Brown was responsible for all sales and marketing in the region, the performance of all clinical products and services and developing and implementing service and accountability criteria for EAP integrated and managed mental health products. Ms. Brown also provided oversight for customer service, case management, account management, claims and provider relations. Ms. Brown developed a comprehensive training program for clinical, quality management, and customer service.

Ms. Brown was also a speaker at the National Council for Community Behavioral Health 2011 San Diego conference, presenting “The Next Steps to Sustainability” helping peer and family run organizations on how they can join managed care networks. Ms. Brown earned her Master of Social Work from Norfolk State University, in Norfolk, Virginia. She earned her Master of Music Therapy from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. Finally, Ms. Brown earned her Bachelor of Music from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
