Nancy Ross Bell brings almost 50 years of experience as a Subject Matter Expert to OPEN MINDS. Ms. Ross Bell is a highly accomplished healthcare leader with proven success in improving quality and service, maximizing operational efficiencies, and developing new business opportunities.

In addition to her work with OPEN MINDS, Ms. Ross Bell is the Principal Owner of NRB RN, LLC, a freelance nurse-owned business providing customized health content writing to organizations that market to patients, members, consumers, providers, and healthcare professionals. Before starting her own business, Ms. Ross Bell was the Director of Clinical Analytics and Accreditation at Medical Mutual of Ohio, an Ohio-based mutual health insurance company with approximately 1.6 million members in multiple lines of business in Cleveland, Ohio. During her time as Director of Clinical Analytics and Accreditation, Ms. Ross Bell was responsible for collaborating with teams to integrate quality improvement processes into daily corporate-wide operations that improve member health outcomes and optimize NCQA’s Health Plan Accreditation ratings.

Ms. Ross Bell also held the position of Director of Operations at Medical Mutual of Ohio, where she oversaw daily operations on a rotational basis for claims processing and distribution, call center, and written inquiry departments, consistently achieving goals for greater timeliness and accuracy. She was also responsible for reorganizing Operations’ Training and Quality departments resulting in improved staff performance and satisfaction. Before this position, Ms. Ross Bell was the Director of Staff Model HMOs at Medical Mutual of Ohio, where she was a member of a senior management team responsible for managed care operations of company-owned facilities. She was accountable for the business management of four free-standing staff model HMO facilities in the Greater Cleveland and Greater Akron, Ohio areas, providing clinical care to 22,000 HMO members annually.

In addition to her extensive work at Medical Mutual of Ohio, Ms. Ross Bell worked as an Operating Room Nurse, Assistant Head Nurse of Orthopedic Surgery, and then Administrator at Cleveland Clinical Foundation (CCF)- Independence, an independent, not-for-profit, academic medical center headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. Ms. Ross Bell also worked as the Assistant Director of Ireland Cancer Center, a part of University Hospitals of Cleveland, a not-for-profit academic medical complex headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. Where she collaborated with the physician director on the daily management of the outpatient chemotherapy department and worked with the executive team on the build-out of a new expanded ambulatory care department. Ms. Ross Bell is also a Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio, a Fellow on the Board of Certified Healthcare Management from the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) from the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ).

Ms. Ross Bell graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio with a Master’s in Business Administration. She also has a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in Business Administration from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and has a Registered Nurse Diploma from Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing in East Cleveland, Ohio.
