Omar A. Vega, LPCC brings to the OPEN MINDS team extensive experience in management and clinical service delivery of behavioral health and human service organizations. Mr. Vega’s experience includes clinical program development, oversight, training of team members as well as compliance with and adherence to regulations and evidence-based practices.

Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, Mr. Vega was the Clinical Director for several years at the largest behavioral health care provider in the state of New Mexico with more than 600 employees serving 23 geographically dispersed locations in predominantly rural and frontier communities. While there, he was responsible for providing ongoing clinical direction and oversight of assessment, treatment planning, crisis management and clinical program development and service delivery for TeamBuilders programs in Tucumcari, Santa Rosa, Ft. Sumner, Las Cruces, Los Lunas, and surrounding communities.

As the Clinical Director, Mr. Vega worked to ensure positive client outcomes through the provision of the highest quality behavioral health services and assisted in maintaining organizational compliance with applicable regulations including, CYFD standards, NMAC and TeamBuilders policies. During his time here, Mr. Vega actively participated in local, state and national level training, evaluation and planning initiatives related to the provision of clinical services with a commitment to emerging and evidence-based practices.

Mr. Vega’s industry experience also includes affiliations with numerous professional agencies. He is currently a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, Secretary for the Zeta Chapter of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, and the Business and Activities Chair for the Grassroots Counseling Organization at Eastern New Mexico University.

Mr. Vega received his Master of Arts in Counseling in 2005 from Eastern New Mexico University. Mr. Vega graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, he majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Spanish.
