Perry Patel, MBA, CHA brings over 30 years of strategic and financial planning to the OPEN MINDS team. In his role as a Senior Associate with OPEN MINDS, Mr. Patel provides experience in electronic health record (EHR) implementation, board and executive team relationship management, financial system operational excellence, mergers and acquisitions, payors and revenue cycle management, reimbursement in changing modules of value-based and population management, and extensive knowledge in for-profit and non-profit strategic planning.
Before joining OPEN MINDS, Mr. Patel served as the Chief Operating Officer with Gaudenzia, Inc. and Foundation, Norristown, PA. In this role, Mr. Patel implemented a strategic growth plan that touched nearly every aspect of the organization including operations, fiscal management, budget, grants, reimbursement, cost, marketing, human capital, workforce development, legal compliance, technology, real estate, risk management, licensing, accreditation, and quality improvement initiatives. Mr. Patel planned, directed, and evaluated all aspects of the organization’s strategic and tactical initiatives including implementation of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and IT infrastructure.
Previously, Mr. Patel served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Blood Bank of Delmarva, Newark DE. During his service with the Blood Bank of Delmarva, Mr. Patel increased revenue by 25%, established budget neutrality, achieved a 10% reduction in cost, and initiated a project management office to manage KPIs and benchmarks. Mr. Patel also provided merger and acquisition guidance to expand blood collection locations throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland while meeting FDA regulations.
Mr. Patel was the Chief Financial Officer for The Good Samaritan Hospital/HSCP and Foundation, Lebanon, PA where he managed the fiscal affairs of a 277-bed acute-care hospital and its multiple, off-site facilities. During his time with The Good Samaritan Hospital/ HSCP and Foundation, he helped achieve over $100 million in revenue and over $75 million in assets.
Mr. Patel holds a Master of Business Administration, Public Accounting from St. John’s University in Queens, NY and a Master of Science, Healthcare Finance (Major Courses) from Widener University, Chester, PA. Mr. Patel also earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Bachelor of Science in Finance for S.P. University, India.
Mr. Patel has been serving as a commissioner for the Delaware Health Fund Advisory Committee (DHFAC) since having been appointed by the Governor 2018, He is also a member of the Delaware Behavioral Health Consortium and currently serves on the Consortium’s data and policy and corrections and law enforcement committees. Mr. Patel is also a commissioner for the Historical Review Board of New Castle County (Delaware) and is a longstanding member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
