William “Doug” Tynan, Ph.D., brings more than 30 years of experience in health and human services to the OPEN MINDS team. His areas of expertise include advanced payment models for mental health, chronic illness and mental health, child mental health, special education services, and integrated care.
Dr. Tynan currently serves as a Psychologist with Bryn Mawr Psychological Associates. Dr. Tynan evaluates and tests children, adolescents, and youth adult with comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations, as well as more focused evaluations of cognitive ability, learning disabilities, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Before serving as a Psychologist with Bryn Mawr Psychological Associates, Dr. Tynan served as the Director of Integrated Health Care for the American Psychological Association, where he represented the interests of families, psychologists, and the medical community.
Prior to his role at the APA, Dr. Tynan served as a Program Director for Nemours Health & Prevention Services, where he managed statewide programs to enhance child health by promotion healthy eating, physical activity and supporting social and emotional health from birth to adolescence. Dr. Tynan also supervised a staff of 30 employees with an annual budget of $6.5 million.
Previously, Dr. Tynan spent 13 years as a Psychologist at the Al duPont Hospital for Children. There, Dr. Tynan also served at various times as Director of the ADHD Program, Director of Postdoctoral Fellow Training, and Director of the Primary Care Mental Health Program.
Dr. Tynan is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, past president of the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and current president of the Delaware Psychological Association. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 professional book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles.
Dr. Tynan earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Binghamton University. Dr. Tynan received a Master of Science in Child Development from the University of Connecticut. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Boston University.
