Los Angeles County Centralizing Its Criminal Justice Programs

Los Angeles County, California, is creating a new department to house the county’s criminal justice programs - the Justice, Care and Opportunities department. The department will oversee three programs and initiatives that were previously separate: the Alternatives to Incarceration (ATI) Initiative fell under a separate ATI office, jail closure implementation fell under a separate Jail Closure Implementation Team, and the Office of Adult Programs was its own entity.
