Humana To Use Fitbit Wearable Device To Monitor Chronic Conditions & Predict Adverse Events

Humana is planning to use consumer vital sign data captured by the Fitbit wearable device to support chronic care management by predicting adverse events. This is an early use case identified after Humana researchers analyzed pilot data collected after Humana distributed more than 116,000 Fitbit wearable devices to its Medicare Advantage plan members in December 2020. As of March 2022, Humana’s researchers were using the device data to help consumers manage chronic health conditions and to predict adverse health events.
