Louisiana To Begin Auto-Assigning Medicaid Beneficiaries Into New Managed Care Plans

The Louisiana Medicaid managed care program, Health Louisiana, is preparing for new contracts to begin January 1, 2023. Because the state is adding a new sixth plan, all 1.7 million beneficiaries will be automatically assigned to a plan to balance plan enrollments. The new contracts include the five current plans: Aetna Better Health, AmeriHealth Caritas, Healthy Blue Louisiana, Louisiana Healthcare Connections, and UnitedHealthcare. The new plan is called Humana Healthy Horizons. The Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) will manage physical and behavioral health services.
