Nursing Home Quality: CMS Should Improve Efforts to Monitor Implementation of the Quality Indicator Survey
February 1, 2012
In February 2012, the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report of its study on the quality of nursing homes receiving federal funding. The study was conducted to evaluate the progress being made by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in meeting the objectives of the Quality Indicator Survey (QIS) and to monitor and facilitate statesÂ’ implementation of the QIS. GAO recommends the CMS to improve efforts to monitor the implementation of the QIS.
