Virginia Rebranding Its Two Medicaid Managed Care Programs To Cardinal Care Managed Care

The Virginia Medicaid program is renaming its program to Cardinal Care and is unifying its two managed care programs, Medallion 4 and Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus (CCC Plus). The new name is anticipated to launch on January 1, 2023. The overarching brand will also include fee-for-service Medicaid members. Future phases of the initiative will create streamlined efficiency with a single contract for each managed care organization (MCO), and alignment of existing open enrollment periods.
