California Launches Pilot Project To Test PASRR​ ​Online System For Individuals with SMI & I/DD Seeking SNF Admission

On December 1, 2022, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) began a pilot project to allow general acute care hospitals (GACHs) to test the Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR)​ ​online system. The pilot will identify individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) or intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) who are seeking admission to a skilled nursing facility (SNF).

The pilot will be run at six California GACHs from December 1, 2022, through January 31, 2023, and seeks to determine if individuals with SMI or I/DD need nursing facility services or specialized services. The screening is submitted online . . .
