The Connecticut Office of the Healthcare Advocate (OHA) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) have started collaborating on a project to ensure that private commercial health plans pay for mental and behavioral health treatment provided through the DCF Voluntary Services program. OHA will assist DCF in appealing denials from insurers for families entering the DCF Voluntary Service program. The goal is to ensure that private health plans pay for covered benefits, which is expected to reduce state spending for these services.
