On February 10, 2023, a North Carolina judge granted the state’s request for a stay implementing an order to improve the disability service system for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The order had been issued on November 2, 2022, in the Samantha R. v. North Carolina class action lawsuit. In that ruling, the judge gave the state 10 years to provide more at-home disability services to people with I/DD in the home settings that they choose.
