In 2022, 38% Of Americans Postponed Medical Treatment Due To Cost, Up From 26% In 2021

In 2022, 38% of Americans reported that they or a family member postponed medical treatment due to cost, an increase of 12 points in a single year according to an annual Gallup poll. In 2021, 26% reported postponing or delaying care. The 38% is the highest ever reported over the poll’s 22-year history. Of those who put off treatment, 27% said that the delayed medical treatment was for a “very serious” or “somewhat serious” condition.
