Most AHIMA-Affiliated Health Care Organizations Collect SDOH Data But Report Challenges To Use Information for Program Improvement
About 78% of members of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) reported that their organizations collect data on social determinants of health (SDOH). The members were responding to a survey conducted by AHIMA and NORC at the University of Chicago Most, 71%, reported using electronic data collection methods. However, the respondents also reported several challenges preventing them from leveraging the information effectively to improve health outcomes, including:
