The Kansas Department for Disability and Aging Services (KDADS) is making progress transitioning its community mental health system to the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model. In 2021, the state enacted legislation to adopt CCBHCs as a new Medicaid provider organization type. As of March 7, 2023, three of the state’s 26 community mental health centers (CMHCs) have made the transition and were operating as CCBHCs. Another 10 CMHCs are in the preparation stages.
