A Brooklyn Park, Minnesota Hospital Announces State’s First Mental Health Alternative Response Team

On March 22, 2023, the City of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, in partnership with Hennepin County and North Memorial Hospital unveiled a pilot program where social workers and paramedics respond to mental health-related and other non-criminal 911 calls. Brooklyn Park is a suburban city on the west bank of the Mississippi River, upstream from downtown Minneapolis in northern Hennepin County. Based on current referral numbers, upwards of 700 annual referrals are anticipated for the program.
