Prevalence Of ICU Care Among Hospitalized Children Increased From 10.6% To 15.5% From 2001 To 2019

A recent study reviewed data from 2001 to 2019 to determine how pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) admission patterns, use of critical care services, and the characteristics and outcomes of critically ill children have changed over time. During this period, the prevalence of ICU care among hospitalized children increased from 10.6% to 15.5%. Mortality decreased from 2.5% to 1.8% for children admitted to an ICU.
