Adults With ADHD Experience Anxiety & Depression More Than Adults With Autistic Traits
Adults with high levels of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms are more likely to experience internalizing mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression, than people with high levels of traits associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Among those with high ADHD symptoms, 22% had symptoms of anxiety compared 7% of those with high ASD traits. About 25% of those with high ADHD symptoms and 10% of those with high ASD traits had symptoms of depression. Both ASD and ADHD traits predicted greater instances of internalizing problems than for people without either of the two conditions.
