10% Of People In The U.K. Have An Autoimmune Disorder

Autoimmune diseases affect 10.2% of the population in the United Kingdom (UK). This includes about 13% of women and 7% of men. This estimate is higher than previous estimates, which ranged from 3% to 9%, that often relied on smaller sample sizes and included fewer autoimmune conditions.

From 2000 to 2019, incidence rates of any autoimmune diseases increased by 4%. The largest increases were seen in coeliac disease (119%), Sjogren's syndrome (109%), and Graves' disease (107%).
