Social Determinants Of Health Play A Factor In Migraine Diagnosis Among Medicaid Beneficiaries
Social determinants of health (SDoH), or economic and social conditions that influence individual and group differences in health status, are associated with whether a Medicaid beneficiary with a severe headache is diagnosed with migraine or another type of headache. Individuals in families with issues with income and social protection have a 13% higher rate of migraine diagnosis. Those who have issues with family unit dynamics (death or disappearance of a family member) have a 10% higher rate of migraine diagnosis.
