Nearly 1 Million Child Medi-Cal Members Screened For Adverse Childhood Experiences; 5% Have Four Or More & Are High Risk For Toxic Stress
About 5% of the 919,980 child and young adult Medicaid beneficiaries in California (Medi-Cal) screened for adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) through the state’s ACEs Aware initiative have experienced four or more ACEs, indicating high risk of toxic stress. The ACEs Aware initiative launched screenings in January 2020.
