Los Angeles County Homeless Numbers Increased 9% In One Year

The 2023 Greater Los Angeles Homeless count showed a 9% increase in homelessness on any given night in Los Angeles County (an estimated 75,518 people), compared to 2022 numbers. This year's increases are slightly lower than previous year-over-year increases in the homeless count. This count includes unsheltered adults (70.3%), sheltered adults and youth (26.7%), and unsheltered youth (3.0%). Unsheltered adults are defined as those living in cars, vans, recreational vehicles, tents, and makeshift shelters.
