North Carolina Passes Bill Allowing Exceptions In Foster Family Size To Keep Siblings Together & Allow For Larger Foster Families
North Carolina is expanding the number of children who can be in a foster home from the current limit of five, including: the foster parent’s children, children placed in foster care, capacity for in-home day care, children kept for babysitting, or any other children residing in the home. Federal rules have previously permitted exceptions to the five-child limit to keep siblings together. However, families with five or more children have been disqualified from becoming licensed foster homes.
