Telehealth CBT During ESKD Dialysis Sessions Reduced Pain & Fatigue
Individuals with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) who received a telehealth cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) care intervention during long-term hemodialysis sessions had slightly lower pain severity and 181% less fatigue at the end of their third month of treatment than those who did not receive the telehealth CBT. These positive effects were sustained until the end of their sixth month of treatment, where the CBT group showed 273% more positive effects than those who did not receive CBT. Those who received CBT also saw a slight improvement in depression at the end of the third month of treatment.
