Gettysburg, Pa. (August 27, 2023) — The 2023 OPEN MINDS Executive Leadership Retreat returns to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, September 19-21. The retreat will offer executives an immersive three-day experience where attendees will learn the lessons from past and present leaders on how to decide what needs to be done, inspire teams to embrace the new challenges in the field and create a framework for organizational transformation.

Held in beautiful and historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, at the start of Autumn, the retreat offers a sweet escape where executives can refresh, rethink, and reimagine for the year ahead. In addition to a robust agenda of live sessions, speakers, and networking opportunities, the retreat also features a multitude of interactive tours and experiences where leaders of today can walk in the footsteps of historical icons. Attendees will discover how lessons of the past can inspire change for future personal and career focused growth.

  • Preparing For The Unexpected – The Little Round Top Case Study & Battlefield Tour: Take a bus to the Gettysburg National Military Park for a private walking tour of the areas surrounding Little Round Top. The defense of Little Round Top is perhaps one of the most famous confrontations of the Battle of Gettysburg. This session examines how Colonel Chamberlain, in times of great distress, recognized the power of strategic thinking, made the necessary quick decisions, and preserved the overall goal of the Union Army.
  • The Communications Challenge In Times Of Turbulence: The Picketts Charge Case Study & Battlefield Tour: This session will take a bus to the Gettysburg National Military Park, where a licensed battlefield guide will lead a tour across the field where Pickett’s Charge, occurred. Retrace the steps of General Robert E. Lee and General James Longstreet as they made the decisions that not only influenced the outcome of the Battle of Gettysburg but the Civil War. Attendees will gain critical insights on leading in the face of doubt and uncertainty, plus what it takes to encourage collaboration and common ground amongst teams.
  • The Eisenhower Leadership Perspective: Eisenhower Farm Tour: This one-of-a-kind tour of the Eisenhower Farm will offer an inside look at the life and legacy of General Eisenhower. During his wartime and presidential leadership, General Dwight D. Eisenhower believed that trust was a critical leadership attribute, especially in turbulent times. Attendees will learn how Eisenhower’s leadership approach involved the importance of the study, contingency planning, and being surrounded by diverse opinions.
  • Gettysburg Pub Tour: And just for fun this year’s retreat will also feature a pub tour where attendees can enjoy a taste of Gettysburg’s favorite brews! Walk with your peers through the historic streets of downtown Gettysburg, along the way, the tour will stop at three locations where you can enjoy locally crafted brews, ciders, and wines.
