A lawsuit, M.J, W.W, J.A., C.J. v. City of Costa Mesa and City of Lake Forest, filed in 2011 alleged that the plans of two cities in California to close legal marijuana dispensaries would violate the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) by interfering with access to medical marijuana. , A three-judge federal circuit court ruled that the ADA does not protect access to legal medical marijuana. The ruling clarified that the citiesÂ’closures of dispensaries do not constitute discrimination in the provision of public services.
