Investigation Finds Poor Conditions At Kings County, California Juvenile Detention Center

An investigation by Disability Rights California and Disability Rights Advocates has found poor conditions at the Kings County Juvenile Center in Hanford, California. The Kings County Juvenile Center is a locked detention facility which houses between 20 and 30 youth who are detained or incarcerated. Specific findings include the following: 

Excessive arrest and detention rates: Kings County lacks diversion programs and detains youth who pose little risk, causing them to be re-detained for minor probation violations which disrupts education and employment.
