State-level data show that 28.7% of Florida prisoners are "elderly" as of 2022. State law defines people in prison as elderly if they are age 50 or older. In the state, the absolute number of people and proportion of the 50-plus group who are 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75-plus years increased by 0.9% between 2018 and 2022.
