Food Insecurity Among Older Adults Associated With Higher Dementia Risk
Compared with food-secure older adults, older adults experiencing low food security had 38% higher odds of dementia. The odds of dementia were 37% higher for older adults experiencing very low food security.
Food security status was assessed using the validated US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Six-Item Short Form US Household Food Security Survey Module.
