New York Veteran Homelessness Down 83% Since 2010
In New York State, the number of homeless veterans declined by 83% over 12 years, from 5,857 veterans experiencing homelessness in 2010 to 990 in 2022. During this period, the share of unsheltered homeless veterans in the state also declined from 13.8% in 2010 to 2.5% in 2022. According to the report from New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, this is the largest decline of homeless veterans in the U.S. during that period.
