43% Of California Medicaid Child Psychiatrists Unable To Offer Timely Urgent Appointments
According to a recent report by the California State Auditor, about 43% of psychiatrists serving child Medicaid beneficiaries in California were unable to provide an urgent appointment within the state standard of four days. Additionally, the median wait time was 13 days. For children urgently seeking therapy services, 58% of appointments exceeded the standard wait time of 48 hours, and some had wait times of more than 100 days. For non-urgent appointments, 17% of psychiatrists were unable offer appointments within the 15-business day standard, and 26% of therapists had no appointments within the 10-business day standard.
