Missouri Medicaid Approved To Cover IMD Services For Individuals With Substance Use Disorder Or Serious Mental Illness
On December 6, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Missouri’s Medicaid waiver demonstration to reimburse for services provided by residential substance use disorder (SUD) facilities and freestanding psychiatric hospitals with more than 16 beds, which are considered institutions of mental disease (IMD), and normally not covered for adult beneficiaries through fee-for-service Medicaid.
