Ohio Medicaid Coverage for ODADAS Certified Providers Rendering Medication Assisted Treatment

Ohio Medicaid has expanded its coverage of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction. This memo describes the policy changes that went into effect October 1, 2012, for Vivitrol, an injected form of naltrexone, and for generic buprenorphine. Administration of Vivitrol is now reimbursed as a medical benefit, rather than an outpatient pharmacy benefit.
