Worse Cancer Rates Are Seen In People With IDD

People with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) have worse five-year survival rates than those without I/DD for breast cancer, colorectal cancer, or lung cancer. After adjusting for confounding factors, the risk of death due to cancer for people with I/DD, compared to those without I/DD was 174% higher for breast cancer, 142% higher for colorectal cancer, and 49% higher for lung cancer.
