On March 29, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved an amendment to the Idaho Behavioral Health Transformation Medicaid 1115 waiver that will allow the state to reimburse family caregivers for providing Medicaid personal care services (PCS) to beneficiaries. The amendment pertains to PCS typically provided by direct care workers in the home. The amendment approval specifies that family caregivers or other legally responsible individuals (LRIs) can provide the services if no PCS agency provider organization is able to deliver the services.
