Medicare Trustees Predict Medicare Part A Covered 100% Until 2036
The Medicare Board of Trustees predicts that the Medicare Hospital Insurance Trust Fund that pays for Part A benefits will be able to pay 100% of scheduled benefits until 2036, which is five years later than predicted in 2023, and eight years longer than the projection in 2022. In 2036, if all funding and cost trends remain stable, the fund will only be able to pay 89% of costs. In 2023, Medicare covered 66.7 million people. By 2035, the number of beneficiaries is anticipated to increase by 23% to over 82 million.
