On May 14, 2024, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) announced it had awarded KanCare Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) contracts to incumbents Sunflower Health Plan (a Centene subsidiary) and United Healthcare Community Plan, and one new organization: Healthy Blue. Incumbent Aetna Better Health’s bid was not selected for a new contract. The KanCare MCOs manage physical and behavioral health services, and long-term services and supports.
