60% Of Opioid Treatment Programs Billed Medicare For MOUD In 2022
Since the initiation of Medicare opioid treatment plan (OTP) coverage in January 2020, most OTPs have billed Medicare for medications to treat opioid use disorder (MOUD). Of the 1,854 OTPs in the United States, 1,115 (60%) billed Medicare in 2022, with the share billing Medicare ranging from 13% in Oklahoma, to 100% in Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Vermont, and West Virginia.
