45% Increase In Young Adults Receiving Mental Health Treatment From 2019 To 2022
The share of young adults (aged 18 to 26 years) receiving mental health treatment (counseling and/or medication) increased from 18% in 2019 to 26% in 2022, an increase of 45%. For all adult age groups, receipt of mental health treatment increased by 21%, from 19% in 2019 to 23% in 2022.
While mental health utilization increased for all adult age groups, the youth adult group had the steepest increase. By age group, the rate of the increase differed, as follows:
