60% Of U.S. Hospitals Received Three Stars Or Less In 2024 Quality Ratings
In the 2024 Medicare Hospital Compare quality ratings, 60% of the 2,834 hospitals reviewed received a rating of three or fewer stars on the five-star scale. About 13% of hospitals received a five-star rating, and 27% received a four-star rating. Of the remaining hospitals, 29% received three stars, 21% received two stars, and nearly 10% received a one-star rating. The ratings were based on hospital performance from April 2019 through March 2023.
