Pediatric Inpatient Psychiatric Bed Capacity Unchanged From 2017 To 2020

Between 2017 and 2020, there was no significant change in the number of hospitals with at least two inpatient pediatric psychiatric beds in the United States. In 2017, 398 hospitals provided 11,107 such beds. In 2020, 400 hospitals provided 11,276 such beds. The hospitals providing at least two inpatient pediatric psychiatric beds represent about 6.3% of the 6,347 hospitals listed in the American Hospital Association Survey Database (AHASD).

Across the states, the supply of inpatient pediatric psychiatric beds ranged from 0 per 100,000 youth in Alaska to 75 per 100,000 youth in Arkansas. The . . .
