People had a higher incidence of mental health disorders during the first month after diagnosis with COVID-19. The incidence of depression, serious mental illness (SMI), general anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, addiction, self-harm, and suicide were elevated during the first through fourth weeks compared to the incidence before COVID or among people without COVID.
