Tardive Dyskinesia Can Have Significant Impact On The Lives Of Both Individuals & Their Caregivers
More than 80% of caregivers of people with involuntary movements due to tardive dyskinesia (TD) report that the condition has a severe impact on the care recipient's physical, psychological, and social functioning. About a quarter (23.5%) of caregivers said the care recipient’s TD also severely limits the caregiver's life. About 46.4% of caregivers reported that the care recipient’s TD impaired the caregiver’s physical, psychological, and social functioning. About half of caregivers who were employed reported that TD caregiving resulted in impairing the caregiver’s ability to work.
