Kentucky Medicaid plans to reduce its wait list for home-and community-based services (HCBS) by 14% for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) by creating more HCBS waiver slots. The state has six Medicaid HCBS waivers that provide housing, therapy and other support for people with I/DD, physical disabilities, or brain injuries. Three of the waivers have wait lists with 13,820 names. In its biennial budget, the legislature provided funding for 1,925 new slots in four of the six waivers.
