North Carolina Hospitals Launch Initiative To Reduce Medical Debt
North Carolina hospitals are participating in a state-led effort to reduce the burden of medical debt on state residents. Through this program, the hospitals will relieve existing medical debt dating back to January 1, 2014. As of August 12, 2024, all 99 eligible acute care hospitals had agreed to participate. The program leverages the state’s Medicaid program.
