‘Georgia Access’ To Launch As First State-Based Health Insurance Exchange With Private Enrollment Brokers
Georgia is launching a new state-based health care exchange with a new model that partners with private sector companies to enroll consumers. The exchange, Georgia Access, will be live on November 1, 2024, the start of the individual health insurance open enrollment period for 2025. Previously the state relied on the federal healthcare.gov health insurance exchange; however, coverage options were limited, and in 2019, more than 1.3 million Georgians were uninsured, and 118 counties were limited to a single carrier for coverage options.
