20% Of U.S. Adults Experience Daily Loneliness
One in five adults report feeling lonely on a daily basis. According to a new Gallup poll, the number of people reporting daily loneliness is up slightly from earlier in 2024, when 17% to 18% of survey respondents reported feeling a lack of social connection. However, daily loneliness has fallen five points to 20% since March 2021 (the early days of the COVID-19 vaccine national rollout). The survey did not inquire why people feel such a sense of isolation.
