65% of Medicaid Beneficiaries with Type 2 Diabetes Also Have A Chronic Behavioral Health Condition
The majority (65%) of Medicaid beneficiaries with type 2 diabetes also have at least one chronic behavioral health condition. According to a recent survey of 1,001 adult Medicaid beneficiaries with type 2 diabetes, depression and anxiety are the most common conditions, affecting 86% and 66% respectively. Nearly 28% have bipolar disorder. More than a quarter (28%) have chronic loneliness. About 14% admitted experiencing thoughts of self-harm and suicidality.
